Contest Announcement

In honor of the Fourth of July and my first paycheck in fifteen months, I'm announcing a contest.

I'm taking license with another blogger's blog, but I'm sure he won't mind since he loves New Orleans and, as his 'fee' for this contest, I'll buy his first three drinks at the Pub when he comes to the Croissant Cite for Southern Decadence.

Here's the contest:

Go to his (I said his) blog and look at the top picture on the left side (and I'm not referring to the "pecs on parade" picture). There are three parts to the contest:

  1. Identify which street he is walking on.
  2. Identify which street he is walking to.
  3. Identify which street he is walking from.

For extra points, name a bar located at the intersection of #1 and #3.

Submit entries to the email posted a gauche. Winner(s) will be announced July 14.

Back from P'cola

We had a good time in Pensacola despite the threatening weather. D and I both got enough sun during the one day it was sunny to last us for a while.

Highlights of the weekend:

  • Being asked by one of the the wet briefs contestants at Emerald City if I'd be his 'fluffer'.
  • Buying fresh seafood at Joe Patti's. I'm always amazed at the seafood they have ("Oh, so that's what a red snapper looks like!") and the sales volume that place does. I saw the current owner himself, Frank Patti, calling out the numbers. I also saw him on the front page of the local paper the next morning: seems he's about to be sentenced for tax fraud to the tune of $5.4MM.
  • Drinking 'on the house' libations all weekend.

I spent the following few days re-learning how to use Access and then learning how to code VB. I learned enough to know that I'll have to hire someone to do what needs doing...
